During a spa pedicure you should expect for your feet to also be soaked in warm water and nails to be cut and shaped. Your nail spa therapist will then use a pumice stone to buff away dry skin, and follow up with an exfoliation and lotion massage of your feet and lower legs before toenails are polished.
Shellac or gel polish is an excellent choice for durable nails, but you should start with healthy fingernails. If your cuticles and nail bed are peeling, damaged or splitting, you should not apply gel polish to them. It is best to fix the problems before having the treatment.
The artificial nails are not a replacement, but an extension for natural nails. There are two main approaches to creating artificial nails—tips and forms. Tips are made of lightweight plastic plates that are “nail”-shaped. They are glued on the end of the natural nail and acrylic is then applied over the entire nail.
